Too Faced Cosmetics—the cruelty-free global beauty and cosmetics brand started in 1998 and sold in over 30 countries—is known for its ability to not take makeup too seriously. Their “Better Than Sex” mascara is iconic with a cult-like following. They’re responsible for the world’s first glitter eye shadow. And frankly I appreciate any company that so freely uses puns in its product names (looking at you, “Chocolate Brow-nie“). And the Beverly Hills home shared by the company’s married co-founders Jeremy Johnson (CEO/Action Man) and Jerrod Blandino (Chief Creative Officer/Dreamer) is as similarly rebellious, tongue-in-cheek and colorful as the company they helm.

Jerrod—who, along with creating innovative beauty products for the company also creates must-see YouTube videos—wrote about what the decorating goals of this house were:

“When it came time to decorate my Beverly Hills home, I held to the same rules I apply in my career and personal life: be true to what you love, don’t be afraid to break the rules, and embrace your own sense of style.

I realized when focusing on my decorating goals that while I wanted everything glamorous and stylish, my real priority was creating a space where Jeremy and I could feel relaxed and at home whether we were alone or entertaining. It just so happens that we feel perfectly at home with leopard-print carpet, pink velvet couches and chandeliers in any and every room.”

Our Style: My interior decorating tastes have evolved thanks to the help of my friend Mary McDonald; she taught me a lot about traditional styles, but when it comes down to it, the essence of my taste and decorating preferences has remained the same. I like luxury mixed with fun spiced-up with pops of color inspired by Too Faced, my makeup company.

Favorite Element: I never get tired of my dining room. It’s very glam, but it’s the exact opposite of stuffy – the mid-century starburst lighting fixtures are like a party overhead and the color is as fun as a swizzle stick in a champagne cocktail. Plus, the table is big enough to host all my friends!

Biggest Challenge: The entire backyard was a challenge. It was actually built three feet above the ground and there were structural issues so I had to completely redo the yard and have it planted while trying to not destroy the house in the process.

Proudest DIY: What’s a DIY?

Biggest Indulgence: The whole thing! Buying it, decorating it, and remodeling the yard as a 20th anniversary present for my husband Jeremy. It was the largest amount of money I’ve ever spent in the history of our relationship without his knowledge so I was super nervous and I wanted to make sure he’d like it.

Best Advice: Don’t be afraid of color. For some reason, everyone seems to be afraid of color and everything winds up beige and cream! To really enjoy your home, it should reflect the joyful spirit in your heart, so have fun and always have one weird, quirky thing that doesn’t seem to fit—like leopard print carpet or some seemingly out-of-place antique.
